Filling Homes Celebrates 60 Years!

Instead of going through the motions…

What if Carrie Filling Vajen had lived her Christian life “going through the motions”? What if she had chosen to be served and not to serve? What if her heart for the weak and forgotten had not moved her to be Jesus to the last and the least?

When Carrie Filling Vajen decided to give everything, to do more than just what was expected of a Christian, she, in honor and memory of the Filling family, opened the doors to this Home of Mercy. At that time, she may not have understood the significance of her actions, but 60 years later, we understand clearly what Filling Homes has meant to those we serve.

Ministry Partnership Covenant

An agreement dating back to the earliest days of Filling Homes’ history, that affirms the commitment of church bodies and the Four Lutheran Agencies of Northwest Ohio to continue the important work of social ministry in the region, was honored with the biennial signing of a Ministry Partnership Covenant.

Soaring Arts Presents Plaque

Representative Jim Hoops recently responded to an invitation from Soaring Arts Studio, a Filling Homes adult day service center, to meet the artists and see the work they are doing there.

The studio artists and Filling Homes leadership presented Hoops with a custom painted, state of Ohio-shaped plaque for his Columbus office in congratulations for his November victory to represent Ohio’s 81st District.
